This item consists of a loose-leaf binder of xeroxed copies transcribed from a school essay book, the original of which is at the Tuck Museum of the Hampton Historical Society (acc. # 24.2). On the front cover is written "Mr. Thomas Leavitt [and inside the front cover] Mr. Thomas Leavitt, Martha A.L.; Martha A.L. James, Jan 11, 1845; Joshua James Collector Hampton." "[Note: Thomas Leavitt died 13 Sep 1841 and apparently his daughter Martha took over the transcribing of these records. Martha Ann Leavitt marriied Joshua James, 7 Oct 1841.]"
